GLACIER NATIONAL PARK

It was kind of a wet day in Glacier NP, but it was not raining. The mountains and snowpack as well as streams are just too beautiful to describe. The following pictures are taken along the Highway to the Sun in the National Park.

Cold, Cold water.

Took a 1 mi. guided hike in the forest.

You can see much damage from a forest fire in 2008.

The highway was very steep and curvy.

There were waterfalls everywhere we looked.

What a view.

Glacier that is expected to disappear in the next 20 years or so.

We had a really nice picnic lunch along side of a lake in Glacier. It was a nice day.

Lots of forest fire damage near the East entrance to Glacier NP.

Rafting is a big thing just outside of Glacier.

HEADING OUT OF CANADA INTO MONTANA

Heading out of Canada, Cranbrook  is a nice town near the Montana border. Glacier NP here we come.

This is the Hungry Horse dam. It is on the Flathead River, near Glacier National Park. The dam was built for flood control as well as hydroelectric power. Construction started in 1948 and the dam was completed in 1953. There was a visitor center with all of the interesting history of the dam.

An Osprey nest next to the dam reservoir.

This is a beautiful lake held back by the dam. There is no private land on the lake, only Federal Forest campgrounds.

This is a free music concert that we attended in Kalispell Mt. Blues and Jazz music. We had a great time there.

The lead singer/guitarist was from Chicago, and played at places we are familiar with.

The Western Montana State Fair was going on, SO we had to attend. Hog Judging, boy was that exciting.

Draft horses.

Moving entertainment on the midway., They did have a beer garden.

This was cool, a traveling ATM.

The local American Legion had a booth set up at the fair.

OUR TRIP TO CANADA. WE VISITED THE OKENAGON, ARMSTRONG, VERNON, AND KELOWNA

Crossing into Canada. We met Glenn and Pricilla and Rod in their motor homes just after we crossed the border at Sumas BC. We all traveled together to Bob and /Shirley's home in Armstrong BC.

The scenery along the way was beautiful, but there were forest fires along the way and it was smokey.

Following Glenn and Pricilla over a mountain pass. Canadian Rockies are beautiful

After we arrived we took a trip to Kelowna BC in the Okenagon. This was a view from a winery we visited.

Lots of flowers.

Inside the winery for tasting.

This was a golf course Pricilla and Glenn wanted us to see. It was an beautiful view.

TRIP TO ARMSTRONG BC, IN THE OKENAGEN REGION

Some scenery from Beautiful British Colombia.

It was a very scenic drive. There is a reason for Beautiful BC on their license plates. (OOPS, the date on the pic is not correct)

There were a lot of forest fires in BC at the time and some pictures show the smoke.

Smokey is in Canada Too.

Colombia river in Canada.

Canada's Rockies. We crossed lots of steep mountain passes. The motor home worked hard.

Kalowna BC, taken from a winery overlooking the lake.

There were fires very near Kalowna. We watched fire bomber airplanes working the fire all afternoon. They take forest fires near populated areas very seriously.

Following Glenn and Pricilla from Vancouver to Armstrong, Rod was behind us in his motor home. This is an avalanche shed.

All people that we spend winters with in Melaque Mexico.

Our hosts Bob and Shirley, sitting around their pool. We called it Camp Blair for a few days. There were 4 motor homes in their driveway. THANKS BOB AND SHIRLEY!

Kids activities at the Ranch.

Mary and her Granddaughter, Autumn.

Brooks trying to teach me how to throw horse shoes. He was not successful and I have officially retired from that game.

This is at Brooks and Mary's home at the Ranch in Washington State. Party with kids and friends.

A day trip to Mt. Baker with Brooks and Mary.

A picnic lunch up on Mt. Baker

Beautiful scenery and only 1/2 hr. from Brooks and Mary's home.

Autumn, a really nice kid. Grandmother Mary can be very proud.

Whistler Canada, riding the Peak To Peak gondola.

Whistler, at the top.

Whistler

There may not be snow there but bicycling is very popular and the lifts are running, carrying bicyclists.
